Greening the Future of Tourism: A World Café Workshop

A World Café Workshop on Greening the Future of Tourism” on October7 ,2023. It was a remarkable gathering with 25 attendees engaging in a meaningful discussion on green investment and sustainable tourism. The insights shared during this session were truly enriching, creating a valuable learning experience for all. Following the discussions, each table hosts along with their group had the opportunity to present the ideas that emerged from their table conversations to the entire group.

We were privileged to have Mr. Ian Wall who has more than 20 years of experience in sustainable mountain tourism in Nepal. He is also the International CEO of the Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP Nepal), Author, Founder of Off the Wall Trekking Company, Trekking Guide/Porter trainer, a professor as our guest speaker. Mr. Wall provided invaluable feedback to the group and shed light on the journey of Nepal’s transformation from mass tourism to its current position in sustainable tourism. His insights were truly enlightening for all the attendees.
Lastly, we concluded our workshop with another guest speaker, Marinel De Jesus. She is the human rights lawyer, the Founder and CEO of Brown Gal Trekker and a JEDI Advocate. Miss. Marinel emphasized the importance of raising voices for marginalized communities in the context of sustainable tourism discussions. Her inspiring journey from transitioning her career from a Human Rights Lawyer to venturing into the adventure field as the founder of Brown Gal Treks was truly inspiring. Her dedication to raising the voices of the unheard in the adventure tourism sector is commendable.

Once again, thank you all for you active participation and for contributing to such a successful and enlightening event. We look forward to more engaging discussions in the future.
